    THE OPPORTUNITY:

    With exciting new opportunities and partnerships, Impact is seeking an Electrical Apprentice, to join our Oil & Gas Team, based out of our Rosetown, SK location. The Apprentice will provide support and assistance to our Journeypersons, while learning and developing your skills as you work towards gaining your Journeypersons Certification; including wiring and installation of all equipment on new drill sites and projects.

    • Received your 2nd-4th year Apprenticeship Card
    • Actively indentured with the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission
    • A willingness to learn new skills

    • Complete a Driver’s Abstract Check, and Criminal Record Check
    • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

    THE WORK:

    Well, we do a lot of things Oil & Gas, Mining, Agriculture, Commercial, but today we are focusing on Oil & Gas. Here we go!

    • Assisting and spotting when digging trenches
    • Pulling wire and assisting with terminating wire
    • Assisting with the installation of cable trays and other electrical equipment
    • Building and laying conduit
    • Building CSA approved electrical panels
    • Operating power tools, equipment, and measuring and testing devices
    • Completing safety documentation
    • Assisting with shop clean up and maintenance
    • Maintaining cleanliness of the work site

    WHAT TO EXPECT:

    Impact has a well-rounded, hands-on program for learners who want to pursue careers in the electrical field.

    • Initial orientation will introduce apprenticeship candidates to the job - learning from experienced journeymen and management until they show competence with both electrical systems and general.
    • On completion, apprentices will learn most aspects of the trade, this includes rotating through various sectors (commercial, oil & gas, mining, ag, etc.)
    • In addition to being trained by different journeymen during their apprenticeship, apprentices are given ample opportunity to learn new skills so that they're completely ready when it comes time for them to become journeymen themselves.

    We can train you up on the above skills as long as you're already a team player with ambitions to learn and grow within the industry.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Indentured Apprentice (preferred)
    • You have a valid driver's license & clean driving record
    • You have strong communication skills
    • You’re a team player with ambitions to learn and grow within the industry
    • A normal day will be 8 to 4:30 and report out of our Rosetown office.

    FAQ'S 

    Q: HOW MANY DO YOU TAKE PER YEAR? 

    • Historically 5 to 10 per year

    Q: HOW MUCH DOES AN APPRENTICE MAKE IN THEIR FIRST YEAR?

    • With no experience, pay will be about $16/hr, raising with school, experience and performance

    Q: DOES SCHOOL COST MONEY?

    • The apprentice is responsible to pay their indenture fee and schooling fees.

    Q: DO I GET PAID WHILE I’M AT SCHOOL?

    • Sort of. The government pays EI while you are enrolled in school.

    Q: HOW LONG IS THE SESSION AT SCHOOL

    • Approximately 2 months per year for 4 years. 

    Q: IS THERE A JOB AT THE END?

    • At Impact, we hire for the long game - so yes!

    Q: WHERE ARE FORMER IMPACT APPRENTICES NOW? 

    • Many of them like Dean - are still with us today. 

    Q: WHAT ROLES ARE AVAILABLE AFTER YOU BECOME A JOURNEYPERSON?

    You would typically work as a journeyman for a few years, before becoming Foreman. The next steps are office roles or management roles such as:
